I want to take a moment to share with all of you how the record (Him), came to be. For years I have wanted to record a record that not only glorifies God completely, but that also enables those listening to focus on God - to worship God as they listen. I had a Hymnal / Devotional sitting in my studio for quite sometime that I had bought to familiarize myself with traditional Hymns. I didn't grow up in the church, so I'm familiar with some of the old Hymns but for the most part, I didn't know so many of them even existed. I started leading worship at my church in 2000 and many people would come up to me after the service to request a Hymn for the following Sunday service. That's when, and why, I purchased the Hymnal.

As I began to flip through the pages of the Hymnal, I was absolutely floored by many of the words. Again, not knowing the melodies of most of the Hymns, the words moved me and spoke to me in a very powerful way. I felt led to start writing new music to some of these amazing lyrics. What started out as one song (Take My Life) turned into another, and another, and yet another. Once all the songs were chosen, written and arranged, I began recording. It started out as an acoustic guitar and vocal only, and then built from there. More guitars, more vocals, and so on. It's been a long journey for this project and yet at the same time, an amazing one.
