BENJAMIN
Inspired by Christian rock pioneers Petra and dcTalk, rap artist Benjiman found a passion for reaching people through music. Benjiman began his career performing around his small hometown of Lacomb, Oregon. Then, one day he received a call to rap for a little-known band
named Callbox, who later changed their name to Kutless. Benjiman rapped on the group's first album on a song called "Pride Away."
Rapping on that song led to further collaborations with Kutless and Falling Up, and then eventually to Benjiman's own contract with BEC Recordings in 2004. Benjiman's first solo release, Activate, climbed the Radio & Records charts with the hit singles "Trace of Love" and "Activate." The album paved the way for several nationwide tours
and a myriad of festival performances.
Fresh off his BEC Recordings “rapcore” release Activate, Benjiman shows his growth spiritually and musically on his sophomore release S.K.R.I.P.T. (Spreading Kingdom Realities In Perilous Times). With collaborations from Shawn McDonald (Sparrow Records), Paul Wright (Gotee Records), and producer Brandon Bee (Save the City Records), Benjiman continues to innovate and energize everyday-life-stories with an extraordinary fusion of R&B, rap, and rock. The album features the single “Back Home” which talks about finding comfort by comparing our hardships, which are small, in comparison to Christ’s. The song Back Home was co-written and produced by Paul Wright formerly of Gotee Records, and mixed by Jeff Frankenstein of the Newsboys. The album was mastered by legendary mastering engineer Steve Hall (American Idol, Madonna, Earth Wind and Fire, etc.)
“This is a very tight and professional release, with a nice contrast between heavy, rock oriented rap and smooth, soulful hip-hop. There's a little bit of something to appeal to any taste, so this is a worthwhile buy for both rock and rap fans. Benjiman is an unheralded name in the industry, but he is putting out music that can compete with the best, and it's great to have him back.”

People also got excited about “More Like Christmas”, Carried Away’s 2008 Christmas single. It was their first collaboration with Tyler in the mix as well as the first time one of their songs stretched past Christian airwaves to mainstream radio.
“We are still singing three part harmonies but with a new dimension of sound now that there is a guy in the mix,” notices Pam. “There’s going to be some changes but we are excited to see where our sound has matured to and where it is going.”
Amidst all the changes, one element has remained exactly the same – Carried Away’s heart. Their uplifting songs and unwillingness to compromise their positive message still influence old and new fans alike.
“We want to encourage our generation to get more out of life and get to a point where they want nothing else in this world but Jesus,” Christine concludes. “Even if you’ve grown up in church, we want you to reach that individual decision, while we want to also help others who are hearing that message for the first time to know there’s nothing more important than your relationship with Him.”
