KEAGGY/STONEHILL
"I met Randy in 1971 where we were both performing at a Jesus rock concert. Since that day we have toured and recorded on several occasions. The years have flown by but we still have brotherly love and respect for each other. Though Randy lives in Los Angeles and I in Nashville – the distance did not hinder the collaboration of a new group of songs that began to take shape last year when Randy would visit Tennessee every couple of months.
We would hang out together and make each other laugh – and somehow in the midst of the fun a new song would get written. After Randy would leave for home, I would add bass, drums, guitars and more vocals – so that in a very short time a produced song would result that sounded more fresh and spontaneous than the laborious studio productions that we both had experienced in the past. It was a completely enjoyable process and someday I am going to release the hilarious out-takes and banter between takes. Until then, I hope you enjoy this as much as we did making it.”
Phil Keaggy
I have had Phil Keaggy in "My Orbit" for well over three decades.
It's been no less than a singular and remarkable experience.
There is something that can only be tapped into creatively with a friend you've literally grown up next to on life's road. I love the fact that I can hear that very special spark throughout "Mystery Highway"; abandon, passion, the joy of the moment. You can almost hear our laughter between the notes.
Phil and I are like apples and oranges. I couldn't possibly bring what he can to the artistic table and he doesn't do what I do either. Instead we simply trust and respect each other enough to encourage one another's strengths. More than anything else though, my fondest hope is that this record might be a musical testament to God's love and what it's meant for these two brothers as we've traveled side by side down the mystery highway.
