S.O.M.

Since the summer of 2000, a four-man Houston collective known as S.O.M. (Soldiers On a Mission) has pushed their brand of purpose-driven hustla music to audiences with a broad spectrum of demographics.

Consisting of Raymond Steward (Chizzell), Ryan Boyce (Boyce), and twin brothers Jeff (J-Twin) and John (John P) Roman, the group has cultivated a passionate fanbase through grassroots efforts and frequent (and consistently energetic) stage shows.

With an unmistakably Southern style of anthemic street rap, S.O.M. has delivered their message of hope to a variety of venues including prisons, schools, churches, award shows, outdoor festivals, and even a Harlem Globetrotters game.

Their latest offering, "The Journey: Revisited" captures the spirit of their first effort with updated and new tracks featuring a plethora of talented guest artists. This sequel includes features from the likes of Lil Keke (Houston rap legend), Bizzy Bone (of Bone Thugs N Harmony), Pettidee, and the Much Luvv Family.

S.O.M. has extensively toured throughout the U.S. and shared the stage with the likes of Kirk Franklin, Ki Ki Sheard, Mary Mary, Out of Eden, T-Bone, J-Moss, Tonex, Shei Atkins, J Xavier, IROCC, Big Pokey, ESG, Ruben Studdard, and Fred Hammond.

For a memorable and moving inspirational hip hop message, it's hard to beat this group of talented Texans. -- Sketch the Journalist
